My new apartamento!

As you all know, I recently made the move to New York city and have been apartment hunting for a good spot in manhattan to call home sweet home. After seeing many dumps I finally found a cool spot with an even cooler view and jumped on it! I had come here with the intention of renting a short term furnished spot...not so much. This cool condo I found happened to be a year long lease and unfurnished-leave it to me to pull a switch-a-roo like that on myself. But I got over that quickly and got excited because I got to start thinking about decorating, furniture and all the fun stuff that comes along with moving. Then, unfortunately, reality made a grand entrance and I realized all my cool furniture is at home in Texas and getting started in NYC will leave you broke quicker than you can say New York, New York. Moral of this story is that I've been on a major budget trying to decorate my new pad. I've accepted that this isn't going to come together overnight, and started today by building a couch and a bed...from scratch...from ikea. Not an easy task to do alone let me tell you something. I'm sure my neighbors across the way were throwing back in roars of laughter while I'm attempting to hold and hammer the headboard, sides and end of the bed together with every arm, leg and prop I could find! I'm glad to report(for my sake) that no one was there taking photos of me as this was taking place, but I will take pictures ad this process comes together so you all can follow along on my journey around new York to decorate on a budget. Any tips and tricks are welcome!

Alkemie

A friend of mine got an awesome owl cuff for Christmas by this this really cool jewelry line - Alkemie. Got me researching and they have some really unique fun pieces. I'm a big fan of the bracelets in this collection. From the bold cuffs, wild rings and the dark, dainty bracelets there is a lot to love!

The line has a little bit of everything!
I love the elephant wrap bracelet, leather bracelet with birds,
zodiac belt buckle, and croc imprint cuff.

Vita New York

While Looking at nymag.com I found this cool designer called Vita New York. This line uses exotic skins, agate and semi precious stones. I am especially digging the oversized cocktail rings and exotic wrist belt bracelets. Wayne Anderson and Shauna Hull have co-designed Vita New York.  The brand "Vita" means "a way of life".  Check out their full line here.

Horsing Around

Donna DeMari has several photography collections of horses that are truly amazing. I love the close-up obscure shots. Her photographs would be the perfect statement blown up on a living room or bedroom wall. Love.

Dream Big

All this apartment hunting has gotten the wheels spinning - it's decorating time! Considering the fact that I will be on a pretty tight budget, let's hope I have luck finding some amazing deals in the city. I will update with apartment photos once I move in and as it comes together. Wish me luck!
Here are some inspiration photos for my hunt.

And if it were a house and there were a front door....No doubt that this would be it.

Baby it's cold outside

So I am officially a resident of the big apple and it welcomed me with my first snow today! I got to run around in the flurries while apartment searching all afternoon.

Followed by meeting up with some lovely ladies at the cutest spot in the West Village called the Spotted Pig for some mulled wine...a delicious snowy day cocktail if you ask me! This place if you're ever in the village is a really cute little neighborhood spot!

Which transitioned quite nicely into an evening of bar hopping with new-found friends to some fun spots like the Spring Lounge, Bedlam Bar, and the Village Tavern for a fun filled late night. I'll post back tomorrow with some fun new jewelry finds and pictures of the snow!!
